How to Keep a Positive Workflow
February 9, 2018
Between social media, emails, meetings, events and just our normal day to day tasks, our lives can be overwhelming. I don’t know about you, but sometimes it feels like we are drowning in our to-do list. So this week we’d like to share our current approach to keeping a positive and stress-free workflow.
While we are still evolving, we’ve found these tactics to be a great way to stay focused and get things done.
Time-blocking.
Give each task a time block. For example, if you need to respond to emails, set aside 15-20 minutes for this task, and then move on to the next thing. You don’t want to get overwhelmed or lose energy doing one task for too long. A huge time suck is social media. We try to only do a 5 min block 3x per day so we don’t get into a deep dark hole of social stalking.
Take Breaks.
This is a big one. We like to stay super hydrated to force ourselves to get up and take a break. It’s easy to lose track of time and be in one position for hours on end. Not good. Sitting still can also hinder your creativity. So we like to take the time to get up and step away from the computer, or schedule a 5 minute dance party. This is sure to give you a recharge and get your brain back into a productive place!
Stay ahead of schedule.
This will definitely help in the long run to keep your workflow as stress-free as possible. Preschedule your socials, prep your content calendar a month ahead of schedule, basically get ahead of your schedule so you are not staying up until 2am trying to get everything done. Plan out your busy schedule in advance to save yourself the extra pressure. (Full disclosure: We are still working on this one! And also, it may take a few 2am work nights in order for you to get a leg up on your schedule. But it will be worth it!)
Hope this helps, Ravers! It’s easy to get carried away in your workload, but make sure to keep it positive and find some time for fun.
